Over that same time period, traditional egg sales declined by 10 percent, the data shows.
One of the main drivers of plant-based egg sales is JUST’s egg alternative. According to the company, by August of 2019, it had sold the equivalent of 10 million eggs since its December 2017 launch.
Data from market research company IRI showed that JUST Egg was the second bestselling product in the liquid egg category over 12 weeks at the beginning of 2019 – beating off all traditional egg options apart from Egg Beaters.
Since those stats were released, it was announced the product – which is available in Albertsons, Safeway, and Wegmans among others – would be launching in 2,100 Kroger stores.
